Day #1 and 2: Mims, Florida
Meadowridge has landed and established ourselves in Florida! After lots of airport bustling, baggage tag complications, fairly smooth flights, and a packed bus ride (perhaps a little bit of overpacking occurred), we made it to Mims, Florida, a small township 45 minutes Northeast of Orlando.
With very warm, humid weather, the kids are happy to have left the British Columbia cold and be able to put on shorts and t-shirts and enjoy the outdoors. We are just wrapping up our first day at the Wild Horse Rescue Centre – a day filled with information, tours, and lots of dog and horse petting. The kids experienced numerous stations informing them of the various training, haltering, and general maintenance of the horses and farmland. We are keen to be able to get on the horses tomorrow and start building fences (literally and figuratively).
We are staying in cabins at a KOA campground that is about 9 miles from the farm. It is surrounded by beautiful trees and hanging moss, and the kids are now experiencing sleepless nights as they try to figure out the window and air conditioning combo and life without a phone and wifi. What an educational experience!
We look forward to updating you more on the upcoming events as they occur!
